I got to try the new 2011 Luigino Sting boot today. (review continued below)
If you don't already know, Luigino has completely redesigned their last designs in their boots for the 2011 season. The redesign was for the good. I have already reviewed the 2011 Strut, Attitude, Victory, Challenge and Ultra Challenge. All 5 Luigino boots passed with flying colors. I expressed the Strut and Ultra Challenge were the 2011 higher cut boots and the Attitude, Victory and Challenge were the 2011 lower cut boots.
Well the Sting turned out to be a high cuffed boot like the Strut and Ultra Challenge boots. I have not liked any of the Sting boots of the past so I was starting this review with a bad taste in my mouth. Once I started skating on it I was surprised with how well it was working (again comparing them to the past years Stings). I then remembered the 2011 Sting was built around the old Verducci last design. Remembering that, I then knew why they were working so well. I always did like the old Verducci last designs.
So this higher cut boot in the 2011 Luigino boot line is a bit different then the higher cut 2011 Strut and Ultra Challenge boots as the Sting has the older Verducci last design where the Strut and Ultra Challenge have a whole new Luigino last design. I would say the 2011 Sting passed with flying colors in a different way then the Strut and Ultra Challenge did. Can I refer the 2011 Sting? Absolutely, with flying colors.
So again if you like a higher cut boot you would want to look at the 2011 Strut, Sting and Ultra Challenge, if you like a lower cut boot you would want to look at the 2011 Attitude, Victory or Challenge.
Same as the other 2011 Luigino boots, as far as sizing I wear a size 9.5 to 10 in a Nike running shoe and the size 11 Sting fit my foot perfectly.
